GFN Update
From John and Sue Bartels in Grenada

Dear Family and Friends,

WE ARE ON THE AIR!!!

From Bolivia, we are broadcasting our brand new English TV channel via satellite to the Western Hemisphere and Western Europe 24/7.

The map below shows our coverage area:

For details:
http://www.lyngsat-maps.com/maps/intel805_hemi.html

If you have a C-Band satellite dish you can find our signal here:

FREQUENCY: 3686 MHz
Polarization: Vertical
Symbol Rate: 5787 Kbps
Satellite: Intelsat 805

Following much prayer for space on an already full Intelsat 805 satellite, the satellite company called David Gates and offered space on that very satellite! No roadblock is too big for God! We will continue broadcasting from Bolivia until our station and studio are constructed here in Grenada. Please join us in thanking the Lord for His wonderful provision that has enabled this incredible milestone and may God richly bless every searching soul with the gift of His love and grace via this signal. We would like to announce that the GMI Media and Audio center is now Back online.

We recently had to go offline with the Media and Audio center because there was a massive fluctuation in downloads reaching over 13,990 hits this month which is 4 times the amount of last month!! Praise God!

However our server didn’t like it and hit its maximum download capacity!! It Is great news when there is so much activity regarding spreading God Message around the world. It tells us that People are desperately seeking and the urgency of our Savior’s work is being heard!

We do however apologize for those who have wanted to listen or download the files and have not been able! You are now able to access the Media center by clicking on menu above or following this link. Please tell your friends and family we are back online.

Thank you and God Bless!

“Ring-Ring”. I answered the phone about a month ago to hear a sweet voice speaking English with a heavy Portuguese accent saying, “Mr. Mills, this is the Brazilian Consulate in Miami. We are calling to inform you that the volunteer visas for you and your family to work in Brazil have been denied!”
I stuttered and stammered in disbelief. “DENIED! You mean… well what do you mean? What can we do now?” Here we were, already in Brazil, moving forward to help start the medical launch to reach the unreached of the Amazon region with the message of Christ’s imminent return. Here we were, Lina less than 4 weeks from delivery, our whole lives dedicated to helping this cause…. and our visas DENIED.
We prayed and prayed and asked the Lord what could be going on. We had seen His hand so clearly guiding and opening so many doors, how could this be happening? We decided to continue moving forward by faith, certainly this was just another tactic of the devil to discourage us from doing this great work for God. With faith and a whole lot of prayers I headed off to the US consulate to see what could be done.
It was a difficult situation we were in. Our baby would be born in Brazil to parents who had only a tourist visa. Our visas were to expire on the 10th of October, the last day that we could legally be in the country. With the baby being born in Brazil we would have to apply for US citizenship as a birth abroad and apply for a US passport for the baby, which would take at least four weeks. So we would be required to leave the country and return to the USA, but our baby would not yet be an American citizen with the ability to return. This was a problem! The kind US consulate representative heard us out and wasn’t sure what to do either. She said we should talk to the Brazilian Federal Police, who deal with all immigration issues. Dear Friends and Family,

I regret that it has been so long since I’ve been in touch. The last couple of newsletters were sent out by my mother when my parents and little sister visited here in May and June. My life has not been boring since then by any means. Actually, I’ve maintained that one of the things I like about Bolivia is the fact that I’m never bored.

One of the non-boring parts came with dreaded realization that I’d been scammed by my lawyer and judge in Rurrenabaque, and although, according to my knowledge, Graciana, my now almost two year old little girl was officially mine in July of last year, the adoption was actually invalid. With Charlie’s adoption ready to be processed, I realized I would have to do it in Santa Cruz. I’ve now been in Santa Cruz since mid June, working on what seems an ever lengthening process, but happy with the knowledge that it’s being done right this time.

In July, God opened the way, including an about to expire airlines voucher, for me to visit home for a few weeks. It was hard to leave my kids, but Sara did a 110% job of holding down the fort for me. It had been nearly two years since my last visit home, and landing at the small Grande Prairie airport, the sweet scent of hay fields hit me. I’d forgotten how good, clean, and fresh Canada smells! Meeting my newest sister in-law and my newest nephew was exciting, but not to be out weighed by renewing the bonds with my siblings and other sister in law, and of course, a lot of other extended family. My ticket for comong back got messed up, and I ended up being able to attend ASI in Florida. Continue reading ‘We need your prayers | Familia Feliz Educational Center’

Dear Friends and Family,

Just a quick note to say we have a new edition to the Mills Family. Lucas David Mills was born on Tuesday, September 9 at 1:10 am at the Adventist Hospital of Manaus, weighing in at 7 ½ pounds and about 20 inches long. Thanks be to God, all went very well, with Lina only being in labor for a little less than 3 hours. Monday night a little after 10 pm she started to have some back pains. She tried to rest a while. Sometime around 11:20 she got in the shower. By the time she got out of the shower her contractions were coming at every 2-3 minutes. We rushed to the hospital and were not even there for more than 1 hour and 15 minutes before he was born! We came home on Tuesday and all has been going very well since. Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

I am forwarding you a brief summary of what we would like to have added to the GMI web page. It entails additional updated information about the Joseph Bates School and where we are in the whole start up process. If there is any information which needs to be added or omitted please let us know otherwise we would like for it published on the web as soon as humanely possible.

Best Regards,
Lidia and Mar-Lee

The Joseph Bates School is in its initial stages. Headed by Lidia Baez Candelario, former Academic Sub Director as missionary volunteer at the Richard Gates Industrial School in Bolivia, she has endeavored to start an Industrial school in Villa Alta Gracia Dominican Republic, a poor, small rural community outside of Santo Domingo.

The time has come when those who choose the Lord for their present and future portion must trust in Him alone. Everyone professing godliness must have an experience of his own. 1T p 262

It is God’s goal for each one of us to have a personal experience in trusting Him. In trusting in Him alone. It goes against human nature to trust God for our daily needs. We prefer to trust in our work, in our parents, our retirement funds or social security. And yet the time is coming and I believe is at the door when all those things will be removed from us. If at that time we are unaccustomed to standing steady on the promises of God, how shall we stand?

It is one of our goals to teach this form of trust in God to our students. This last week God gave us the perfect opportunity to share this experience with the students. We had come to the end of the month, an especially tight month financially. We had tried to use the money frugally, we had made and sold 12,000 bricks, and still found ourselves one week from the beginning of the next month with only $7 left over. That left us a bit shy of the $575 that we spend weekly on food alone (to feed all 85 people on campus), and doesn’t come anywhere near paying for diesel and maintenance on the truck and generator or cement for the continued construction of the new classrooms. We hope everyone is enjoying the new site and able to find all that they are looking for :)

We have a small announcement relating to the Volunteer Application form.

Basically we would like to kindly ask if you have submitted a form in the last week, could you re submit your application as the volunteer processing application went down and did not send us any applications.

We do not want you to miss any opportunity for mission work and would kindly ask that you re submit as soon as possible.

Thank you so much and apologize for this inconvenience.

God Bless

We are seeing the Holy Spirit working in these last days. Mami, the biggest leader, witch-doctor, and former antagonist of our work came to church a couple Sabbaths ago! He did not come to get medicine or for any other reason except to learn! He then came again the next Sabbath! He also interrupted the service for a moment after song service and politely asked if he could ask a question. He asked his sincere question (about Jesus’ death–if it was man or God who killed him) and then we missionaries and our local pastors-in-training proceeded to answer him and give him the story of salvation–the shortened version. He accepted our answer and thanked us and we continued on with the service! This is the same man who’s son became demon possessed a few months back and they came to ask OUR help. We have been praying for him for a long time and it’s exciting to see the signs of the Holy Spirit’s work in his life.

Media News.
1. Today we have connected all 8 lights on the stage. We will still be fine tuning them as we practice. Thanks to Dave and Terry for helping.

2. Julie Cutler has now four printers running, so she can print DVDs at twice the rate.

3. We are currently getting one of the cameras fixed. It is only a minor connection problem with the computer that I wanted to get fixed under warranty.

4. With getting the camera fixed, I will be looking at software so I can video mix live video of cooking demonstrations etc on a computer. This will enable us to more easily video off site programs.

5. We have restarted the “Second Coming” Series on Monday nights with Sam (won’t happen when board meetings on).
