Tsushima Volunteer Mission Report – April 2025

Hello Friends,

Last month, a junior high school graduation ceremony was held at the Special Education Center where we work. Only one student graduated this time, but he had been unable to attend regular school since he was 8 years old due to a mental illness and we provided him with various supports until he turned 15 years old.

Now he has remarkably recovered and is able to interact with others and has been attending a public high school since April. His mother in particular was also exhausted from a long period of mental stress and relationship troubles, and I first shared the words of the Bible with her so that she would know our Creator and live in dependence on Him. Then she began to carry a notebook with promises and words of encouragement from the Bible with her at all times, and gradually began to have true joy in her heart. It has been ten years since I started working with children and their parents. Many national and international supporters have come and helped.

The reason why I have continued this work is that a young man who lived next door to me tried to burn himself to death in his house. The house burned down and his parents were devastated. He too had never attended school and had lost the meaning of life as a loner in his home, without knowing God. I did not even know that there was a young man in that house in that situation. For this reason, I have continued to help these children on a volunteer level, and have been able to do so for 10 years because God has continued to give me everything I need. It is nothing short of a miracle of God.

We know that there are still more than 50 lonely children on the island who have heart problems and cannot leave their homes. We pray that we can reach as many children as possible and support them while sharing God’s love.

Please pray that God will bless and continue this support activity.

Our greatest joy and desire is that children in need will come to know God’s love little by little over time and will have true hope and joy in their hearts. And that their parents will come to know God’s love as well.

4 “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.  Luke 15:4-7
