There is no lack of money or resources in this world, only a lack of love. A lack of love? Yes, whether someone is a billionaire or nearly destitute, we all suffer from the same lack of other-centered love, what the New Testament writers called agape. Jesus even admonished the early church—which turned the world upside down with the gospel—“thou hast left thy first love.†(Rev 2:4). What would He say to us living in the most prosperous period of history?

Soon after I recorded “Even at the Doors,†I received a phone call from a dear friend with some kind advice, “David be careful. I am afraid you will be left on an iceberg all by yourself and that could hurt your ministry.â€
I thanked him very much for his kind call, but assured him that I have been there before, and if you are doing what God wants you to do, it has never hurt our ministry when called to stand alone. Obeying God might lead to distress and suffering, but always results in a blessing. Even martyrdom is used by God as a blessing to save others. Their blood was seed for other conversions.

Four weeks ago, I added full power on our Cessna 340 mission plane and waited for the turbos to kick in. The engines reached full turbocharged speed and we headed down the runway. About half way down the runway, the plane rotated as I lifted the nose gear.

We made two mission outreach flights in April about 300 miles away to villages outside of a small town called San Borja. We could only take 5 out of the 7 volunteers in the airplane since it is too small to carry that many people. These two people, David, a volunteer dentist from Peru and Franz our local Bolivian volunteer had to go on the 15+ hour bus ride instead of 2 hours by air.
